Good News | Haomin Optoelectronics’ Fceo detector has been awarded the “2025 China Top Ten Optical Industry Technology – Breakthrough Award.”
2026-05-25
Recently, the 2026 China Top Ten Optical Industry Technology Innovation Conference and Awards Ceremony was grandly held at the China Optics Valley Science and Technology Convention Center in Wuhan. Following rigorous and impartial multi‑stage selection, Hunan Haomin Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Haomin Optoelectronics”) stood out among more than a hundred competing technologies with its achievement—“a domestically developed, low‑power on‑chip Fceo detector for industrial‑grade optical frequency combs”—and was awarded the “2025 China Top Ten Optical Industry Technology – Breakthrough Award.”
Glory is captured, and breakthroughs forge brilliance.
The conference venue was ablaze with dazzling lights, exuding a solemn yet vibrant atmosphere, bringing together the industry’s foremost talents to celebrate the year’s remarkable achievements in optics. This year’s prestigious awards program assembled a distinguished panel of academicians, seasoned research experts, and leading industry executives, establishing a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation framework. Centered on three core dimensions—innovation, applicability, and significance—the committee conducted multiple rounds of stringent review and meticulous selection across all 128 submitted technological advancements. Ultimately, the top ten industrial technologies of the year were recognized in the fields of optics and laser, while three major awards—the Innovation Award, the Application Award, and the Breakthrough Award—were presented to honor benchmark technologies that have overcome critical industry bottlenecks and driven transformative progress. Dr. Ding Shangsu, Technical Director of Haomin Optoelectronics, was invited to attend this grand ceremony and accepted the award on behalf of the company.
Flagship Product: Fceo Detection Module — The Core Power Behind China’s Optical Frequency Comb
As the core detection unit of an optical frequency comb system, the performance of the Fceo detector directly determines the frequency stability and measurement accuracy of the comb. Haomin Optoelectronics’ self-developed Fceo detection module boasts three key advantages:
Nationally developed and independently controllable: We independently research and manufacture the entire value chain—covering core chips, optical components, and packaging technologies—thereby breaking free from reliance on high-end overseas components and ensuring supply-chain security and autonomous control over technological upgrades.
Industrial-grade, low-power, highly integrated: Employing an on-chip integrated design, it boasts a compact form factor and significantly lower power consumption than comparable imported products, while supporting 24/7 continuous operation in industrial environments, thereby substantially reducing system deployment and maintenance costs.
High performance, stable, and reliable: Key performance indicators have reached internationally advanced levels, with bandwidth options of 1.5 GHz and 6 GHz, a saturation power of 4 mW, a gain of 30 dB, and a signal-to-noise ratio exceeding 40 dB, enabling precise detection and locking of optical frequency comb beat signals.
The Fceo detection module, which has won an award this time from Haomin Optoelectronics, Building on the concept of on-chip integration of optical systems, we undertook intensive R&D efforts and, by December 2025, launched China’s first industrial‑grade thin‑film lithium niobate (TFLN) FCEO detector, thereby closing the final critical gap in the domestic supply chain for high‑precision frequency combs. This module achieves, for the first time, supercontinuum generation, second‑harmonic generation (SHG), and beat‑frequency detection all within a single TFLN chip, enabling “on‑chip spectral broadening and on‑chip frequency‑doubling detection” of FCEO signals. Its large‑scale deployment will establish a closed loop spanning core components and system equipment, ensuring supply‑chain security and helping China assume a leading position in the global optical frequency comb industry. At the core architectural level, the team has pioneered a self-developed on-chip integrated architecture, abandoning conventional discrete-component stacking approaches. This dramatically reduces the device footprint, achieving breakthroughs in miniaturization and high integration, thereby perfectly meeting the demands of industrial‑grade optical frequency comb systems for compactness and seamless integration. In terms of power consumption control, through optimized chip circuit layout, iterative low‑power demodulation algorithms, and streamlined redundant optical path design, the device significantly lowers operational power draw without compromising key performance metrics such as detection accuracy, signal‑to‑noise ratio, or bandwidth. Compared with equivalent imported products, power consumption is reduced by more than 30%, effectively addressing longstanding industry challenges associated with traditional devices—excessive heat generation, high energy use, and insufficient stability—and fully satisfying the requirements for 7×24‑hour continuous, stable operation in industrial environments. This product has been successfully integrated into multiple domestically produced industrial‑grade optical frequency comb systems and is widely deployed in cutting‑edge applications including optical frequency comb locking, quantum precision measurement, optical clock development, ultra‑stable laser sensing, and microwave photonic radar.
This year’s receipt of the “2025 China Top Ten Optical Industry Technology Breakthrough Award” is a testament to Haomin Optoelectronics’ outstanding technological innovation capabilities and its significant contributions to the industry. Looking ahead, Haomin Optoelectronics will remain committed to its original mission of “independent innovation and serving the nation through industry,” focusing on cutting-edge fields such as optical frequency combs and quantum precision measurement. The company will continue to ramp up R&D investment and introduce more high‑performance, highly reliable domestically produced optoelectronic products.
